Graham Shaw BDS (Syd)


Dr Graham Shaw dentist HawkerGraham has provided dental and orthodontic services in the Belconnen area for over 31 years. In 1979 Graham graduated dux in children’s dentistry (pedodontics) from Sydney University. He has maintained his strong interest in children’s dentistry and orthodontics which make up a large part of his practice. Graham’s gentle, caring and professional manner has made him very popular in Hawker where he has lived for over 3 decades. He greatly enjoys seeing up to 3 generations of the same families. Completing POS and advanced orthodontic courses by Dr Eric Lewanhauft and Dr Robert Ricketts, among many others, Graham utilises the latest techniques including Twin Blocks, Invisalign, expansion and fixed braces with tooth coloured brackets optimising the smile without extraction if possible. The great outdoors is Graham’s other passion, kayaking, skiing and walking with family and friends and lately “sniffing” out truffles with his dog Truffle.


Des Storey BDS (Syd)


Dr Desmond Storey dentistDr Des is passionate about helping patients experience optimal oral health and achieve beautiful smiles. “I love applying a broad array of skills to improve the wellbeing of the public.” He obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) from the University of Birmingham in the UK in 1980. After obtaining his dental degree, Dr Des has held various positions including five years in postgraduate Oral Surgery in the UK (1981-1985), Chief Dental Officer for ACT Health (1987-1988), served as a Visiting Dental Officer for ACT Health since 1987, a general dental practice in Canberra since 1988, member and Deputy Chair of the ACT Dental Board from 1999-2011 and served as Deputy Director Professional Services Review (Medicare) from 2012-2016. To keep abreast of the latest in dentistry and to better serve his patients, Dr Des has completed numerous continuing education courses. He recently attended Australian Dental Association’s Congress, which was held in Melbourne. Dr Des is a member of the following organisations: Australian Dental Association, International Team Implantology (ITI), ACT Dental Group and Fellow International College Dentists (FICD). When he’s not at the practice, he enjoys going to the theatre and playing Veterans Soccer.


Amber Halstead BDS


dr-amber-halsteadThough she used to be scared of the dentist as a child, thanks to a positive experience in the dental chair, Dr Amber knew that she wanted to help other people feel safe and understood at the dentist’s office like she did. Dr Amber also finds it fulfilling to give patients choices and help them decide what is best for them. She always aims to offer patients sensible treatment that lasts. Dr Amber earned a Bachelor of Dental Science (Hons) from the University of Western Australia in 2007. She also obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne. To stay abreast of the latest in the field, she regularly takes continuing professional development (CPD) courses every year. She is particularly interested in oral medicine, endodontics, prosthodontics and paediatric dentistry. She also has a keen interest in disease processes and helping people become healthy. Outside the Practice When she’s not working, Dr Amber enjoys raising her children, baking, reading, walking and learning about her new hometown of Canberra.

Dr Monica was inspired to become a dentist because she always wanted to serve the community. “Practicing dentistry gives me happiness as I am able to help everyone.” In particular, she enjoys seeing people smile and helping to relieve their pain.” Graduating from Peoples University, Bhopel (MP) in 2008 with a Bachelor of Dental Science, Dr Monica also has taken numerous continuing education courses. She recently completed training in implants in cosmetic correction using a popular injectable . “I enjoy esthetic dentistry.” She is a member of the Australian Dental Council and enjoys walking on trails and cooking.
